Kids Crafts

Paper Plate Mobile

So summer is nearly here and it’s time to start thinking of things to decorate the garden and if you’re crafty kids are anything like my daughter they’ll just love creating this craftacular wind mobile.

To make the Wind Mobile you will need the following items form your craft supply cupboard:

Paper Plate
Bubble wrap (for the tentacles)
Coloured card or paper
Acrylic Paint
Black marker pen
Paint brush
Glue stick
String
Sticky tape
Scissors

How to make your Wind Mobile

Take your paper plate and paint it (any colour) and set it aside to dry.
Cut your bubble wrap into strips (8) to form the tentacles and paint these in alternate colours. Set aside to dry.
Draw several different sizes of circles on the coloured card or paper and cut these out for decoration.
Next draw two circles to form the ‘eyes’ on white paper and colour in the center with the marker pen, cut these out.
Next draw an arc shape to form the mouth. Cut this out.

Assemble

At this stage your paper plate and tentacles should now be dry.
Turn the paper plate over and attach the tentacles in a circle to the back of the plate using the sticky tape.
Cut a 10 com piece of string loop it and stick it to the top of the plate using the sticky tape.
Turn the plate back over and use the glue stick to attach the coloured ‘scales’, eyes and mouth.
Your wind mobile is now complete and ready to hang in the garden.

If you’re kids are feeling slightly more creative get them to add coloured gems or glitter to add a just a little but more sparkle.

How to make a SPLAT bug!

So it’s another wet day and your kids want to get crafty… again… but this time they want something sparkly and shiny to make their own.

So you need to come up with a great idea in a short space of time.. Well why not on this occasion use the  kids can be crafty tools. We;re  are here to help.

Today’s kids crafts solution is…. The SPLAT bug. This is a versatile wee creature that can be made into a picture, a fridge magnet or a Frisbee. Let your crafty kids choose J

To make the splat bug you will need the following items form your craft supply cupboard:

PVC Glue
Lots of glitter in lots of colours
Sparkly gems or confetti
Googley eyes
A baking tray (or glass plate)
And a paint brush

To make your Splat Bug:

Pour about 10ml’s of glue into the baking tray until you have a small puddle.
Take the paint brush and pull it through the glue to form a splat shape (or nay shape you like). Make sure the glue is evenly spread or it will take longer to dry.

Rainbow glitter effect

Once you’re happy with the shape grab the glitter and shake shake shake those colours over the Splat till it is fully covered.

Now take your googley eyes and place them on the splat.  Then place it in a warm place to dry, if the glue is not to thick this should only be an hour or so (but if it’s thicker leave it overnight).

Once the Splat Bug is dry get your crafty kids to add either a magnet to the back or frame it and name it .  Anything goes.

Have Fun
