1 - Crayons
Classic crayons, beeswax crayons or even special shaped
crayons are available for little hands to hold. These can be expensive to
purchase all at once but is you’re a savvy shopper (like me) you can stock up
during in the back to school sales in August/September where a box can go for
as little as 50 pence.
2- Coloured
Pencils
You need these for the more intricate colouring or writing
your little crafters crayons can’t achieve. Keep several styles and colours.
They will save the day and provide the perfect finish.
3- Felt
Tip Pens
Choose washable markers as they are much easier to clean
from little fingers and arms and will provide varied colour. If you have older
children remember to get marker pens in an array of colours Sharpies
are best for those finishing touches or standalone projects.
4 - Water
Colour Paints and Brushes
Water
colour painting is very versatile and kids love it. It can add colour too
many projects and is like the tie-dying for paper just remember to use on
thicker papers or it might soak through and rip.
5- BIG Roll
of Plain Paper
It is cheaper to buy a large roll of lining paper from the
DIY store rather than get it from the craft stores. As its wider and thicker it is suitable for
both large and small craft ideas.
These are big solid sheets and easy for small hands to cut

7 - Colouring
in, Sketch Books, Sticker Books
There are loads of options out there from scribble books to
adult colouring books or favourite movie collage books that have all of the
above.
Several sizes and edges are needed here so you always have
a pair to hand
9 - Pipe
Cleaners
There fun to create with and can be used to join things
glue can’t.

10- Glitter
A must have. Kids love it and there is nothing like adding a
bit of sparkle to their crafty designs to make them special.

11-- Glue sticks
Coloured one’s are the best as kids can see where there
gluing and the best bit they dry clear.
1 12- Liquid
glue (PVA)
Great for sticking, missing with water to add a glaze to a
finished project or adding to paint for a versatile finish.
13 - Googly
eyes
Kids love these. They will encourage creative, imaginative artistic
play if they are available and can be added to just about anything to finish it
off.
1 14- Craft
sticks
You’ll be amazed at the uses for craft sticks and the
things kids can make
15- Air drying Sculpting Clay or Homemade Salt
Dough
You can make anything with this from special hand prints
key rings to Christmas decorations and the best bit…It dry’s on its own so no
need to bake and once dry it can be painted any colour you like but if it’s too
expensive you can always make your own salt dough to use in it’s place.
So there you have it. 15 essential items to buy and stash
in your craft supply cupboard until you’re ready to get crafty with the kids.
